A fresh start and another "run" up the mast to try again to feed the masthead cable down through the cable conduit. The plan being to see if we can get it passed a (last?) obstruction - only 12-15ft above the deck - so near and yet so far away! After 15 minutes of trying - no good. Haul the cable back out and try a slightly heavier weight and not string in between the weight (an eye-bolt) and the cable connector maybe the gap was causing the problem. All 66ft of cable once again at the top of the mast, weights fixed . another try. Down, down the cable went, past the first few obstructions and back to the same spot - a few more tries and suddenly more cable disappeared into the mast - it must be at the bottom. Di, trying hard to see it "no, not there" - and yet I only had a few feet of spare cable left at the top. Trying again (from the other side of the mast step - fingers pushing in.. "yes, its here"!! Thank goodness. In a few moments, remaining cable slack pulled through - we had done it!! Feed through the coach-roof tube (much easy than the mast), re-connect and we have a fully functioning anemometer on the instruments.finally!

No question, time to celebrate the end of this journey and the success of the masthead cable threading exercise with a bottle of bubbly to end the evening.
