A cold, damp and misty morning greeted us to start our trek along the ICW. Narrow channels, shallow depths and low bridges meant a constant watch at the helm and forward- even in the pouring rain. Not the best of starts . had we considered staying for another night and become fair weather sailors . well, almost!

However, the stunning views of Cyprus trees growing in the water and in the vast swamps made up for the bad weather as we edged our way northwards. A rest stop at Bucksport Marina (established by Captain Jack a former lumber merchant) provided a chance to warm up again. An evening dinghy over to a nearby creek to see carpets of yellow flowering marsh plants and more interesting trees but no wildlife as we drifted quietly along.

Unfortunately, the dockside bar and restaurant was closed early as it is still the "winter" season - after the cold of today. we concurred and kept warm on the boat for the evening!
