A cold dawn breaks over Charleston town. A lazy start for us and a short trip across the Charleston inlet to Patriots Point for a return to the Harbour Marina and Resort at Patriots Point.

First, a not-so-good sight as a fellow yacht on anchor has to get towed to the marina dock! Then as we hauled the anchor what looked like a cable at first coming up with it turned out to be a short length of pipe and a lead wire..debris from the seabed. It was several seasons ago that the windlass motor died hauling the anchor in the same spot - no doubt the anchor had been caught on something bigger.we were lucky this time!!

Pleasant views of the old Charleston Bridge and downtown mansions as we slipped past to cross the bay towards Patriots Point. A brief stop at the fuel dock then nicely tied up and checked in. The marina is now a full blown "resort" with a new hotel, extra pools and hot tub - all included in a new daily "resort" fee add on to the dockage charge . we'll make sure we will use the amenities during our stay - including the Fish House restaurant!! Some things hadn't changed - the aircraft carrier, battleship and submarine still dominating the horizon alongside the marina.

However, the afternoon had to be taken up by biking and running to the "nearby" West Marine store - a mere 5 miles away, to collect the re-shipped anemometer. A pleasant stop at Sham Creek on the way for drinks and nibbles helped pass the 10 mile round trip run!

An evening on the boat and another "Smiley's People" episode to round off the day.
