Trinidad boasts the highest number of museums per capita - three on the Plaza Mayor. The town itself was founded in 1514 by Diego Velazquez and was awarded a World Heritage Site in 1988 - a town that time has passed by. So today was to be a "town day" - museums, street markets and generally walking the narrow, cobbled streets in the shadows of the colonial houses, whose shuttered porticoes form a patchwork of blues, greens, reds and yellows. First, a delightful breakfast of fruit, eggs and bread on the veranda watching the many traders pass by below selling fruit, vegetables and collecting rubbish - a lively street activity to start the day!

Back up to Plaza Mayor and to museo Arquitectura, Historie and Romantico (unfortunately closed for restoration finishing the Galeria de Arte with some interesting Cuban paintings! A short walk to the Convento de San Francisco de Asis which recounts the fight against the counter-revolutionaires and the landmark bell tower, providing spectacular views over the city roof tops. Cuban music once again drifting over the still air from local street bands added to the atmosphere.

Rounding the day with sundowners and a roof-top restaurant with accompanying band and sunset, then a visit to the "Casa de la Trovar" - traditional music in the 1777 "House of the Troubador" to round off a traditional Trinidad day!
