Another day to explore - we were invited again to join friends on "Black Swan" to go downtown and visit the Museo de la Revolucion. Housed in the former presidential palace built in 1920 and is fitted with lavish decorations - including the Hall of Mirrors and the Presidents Room (and gold telephone)! Plenty of photos and stories of the revolutionaries: Fidel Castro, Che Gavara, Jose Marti et al. a great insight into the years of revolution (1953-1959), the flight of General Batista in late 1958 and the subsequent attempts by the U.S. to de-stabalise Castro's regime (Bay of Pigs in 1961). Lastly the "Caricature de Cretins" and military exhibits - well worth a visit and several hours wondering around.
