An invite to join our friends from Black Swan again - this time to take a tour of other buildings and plazas of Havana. Starting with the Plaza de Revolucion - an austere square surrounded by government buildings with building size muriels of Che Guevera et al. The square is dominated by a 300ft 5 star tower the Cuban star on the national flag), a 50ft statue to Jose Marti (Cubans foremost national hero martyred in battle) and is used for May 1st parades for Cubans to march past military officers and leaders. No statues or pictures of Fidel Castro.? On to the Hotel Nacional for mojitos in the Hall of Fame bar - visited by many famous leaders and stars. A brief stop in the Floridita - one of Hemingway's many haunts, famous for its daiquiris (we gave those a miss). and finally a picture of Fidel Castro (with Hemmingway)! Lastly, the Russian embassy - a tower dominating one of the main avenues - as one would expect! Plenty of classic car taxis abound Havana. Buildings renovating and still to be restored.
