Hauling anchor at sunrise to make a daylight passage south to Fort Lauderdale a short wait for a cruise ship inbound and then we were away in light winds . but why did the wind anemometer read something difference? Closer inspection it was twisted and the burgee bent - something BIG had definitely landed on the masthead. A trip up the mast would have to wait until the next marina. No matter, sailing on the "tell-tales" was not difficult to remember from dinghy days!

The coastline gradually changed as we progressed south, passing Palm beach Hotel (memories of a BAMS sales conference), square riggers preparing to haul anchor and overloaded fishing trip boats - eventually Fort Lauderdale high rise was raised.

A short wait at the entrance to for an inboard cargo ship meant we just missed the 17th bridge opening! On the hour next opening and before long we had traversed the inland waterway canals of Fort Lauderdale and safely tied up at the Hall of Fame marina. A quick wash and change and down the beach front restaurants and bars for a drink and much awaited tequenos! We have arrived!
