Early morning rise, a "short" 7 mile run to the car rental pick-up and back just in time for a cooked breakfast - what could be better! Packed up, boat shut down and away for mid-day. Oh... almost 5 hours back to Brunswick to pick up our car - forgotten how big Florida is - and we were only part way down the coast! A burnt out RV causing a long tail back slowed the journey down - and as we were so close to one of our favourite cities (Savannah) - a night stop-over downtown seemed a nice alternative to fighting the evening traffic back for another 4 hours to Atlanta.
So, boutique hotel booked (Cotton Sail) in an old cotton warehouse on the river-front, soon saw us dining on a terrace restaurant overlooking the river and watching mega-container ships floating silently by as they leave the busy Savannah port. A stroll along the dockside - past the slip we had tied Magic Friday two years back (The Hyatt "Marina" slip alongside the hotel front) and to a restful sleep.
Finishing the journey home in the morning after a stroll around the town and breakfast in a local cafe...a perfect end to this adventure.
