Oars at the ready(!), tide turning and very little wind - time to row ashore and go exploring! Ane exploring we did - along a deserted trail - amongst the timeless live oaks draped with Spanish moss and dense undergrowth, with the roar of the Atlantic sea on the distant shore. We paused only to admire the beauty, "create" a watercolour (thanks to the digital age of cameras!), inspect armadillo scratches in the soil and extremely well camouflaged lizards, before reaching the eastern shoreline. Thunderclouds rumbling in the background over land emphasised the remoteness of our trek. Back across the island over boardwalks from the beach and into the forest to the western shore. Rest and relax on the boat as the evening drew in over windless waters, culminating in a moon-shadow across Cumberland Island.
