Floor soles up again - ready to test the port side decks and stanchions.... Aft deck first, flooded with hose water - a quick look under the aft cockpit locker - FOUND WATER flowing in through a deck hole - immediately water in the mid-ships bilges. So - we have the culprit at last: the old AIS GPS receiver!! Jeff will remember moving the receiver mid-Atlantic as it was losing the AIS lock (problem thought to be interference with the ships GPS located close by in fact it turned out to be a faulty receiver). Nevertheless - the 3/8" hole made for the central cable had lost its "temporary" sealant - probably some time ago. Amazing that water would flow in through the aft cockpit down to hull base, under the engine structure (not visible) and appear in the beam structures!! So, a quick "temporary" fix with sealant again .... too soon to celebrate (with champagne) - we would wait and see if that was the only problem. Certainly it would explain rainwater, fresh wash water, fresh water when the water tank is filled / overflowed and of course salt water wash over when we dipped the port side gunwale or bow wave run-off - this could be it! Let's wait and see. Floor soles repositioned and on with the rest of the day!
