Early morning rise on the dawn to catch the last tidal outflow. Anchor hauled, motor quietly out of Dungeness-Greyfield Channel back to open sea. Setting the main early gave us a lift to the seaward exit although a little challenging to stay within the channel bouys in a strengthening headwind! Waves breaking over shoals on the northern channel edge kept us on our toes to stay in the channel. Finally, rounding the last mark we set full sails and a course due north back to Brunswick. Heavy seas at first gave way to a more gentle roll and a pleasant sail by mid-day. Not longer after we were once again motoring in the entrance to St Simmons and Brunswick. Time to drop anchor just off Jekyll Island driftwood beach, rest, have lunch and wait for the tide to turn. Followed by a short trip up the channel and back to our dock in Brunswick Landing Marina. All ready to go out for an evening meal BUT the car wouldn't start - battery completely dead. No idea why - but a problem to solve in the morning - a brisk walk into Brunswick historic town found us a very nice real American bar ("The Tipsy") and grill for a meal - evening saved!
