A fresh dawn but light winds - time to motor sail and a time to fish - although catching only seaweed - the day ticked by in the scorching sun.

Suddenly we were flanked by two submarines - moving very fast out to the Atlantic - had we missed some news broadcast? Were we in enemy waters? Probably just an exercise - no need for us to run up the colours!!

The afternoon brought fresh winds to drive us further north - past Port Canaveral, Jacksonsville and Fernandina Beach. Genoa goose winged, jib and main balancing the perfect downward sail configuration.

Finally, the sun tucked itself in behind the distant horizon clouds before setting. No moon to light the way but Venus in the west was "bright this night" painting a light line across the sea, later flanked by Jupiter and Saturn (to the east). Later in the night the Milky Way became visible - a mere trillion stars painted across the sky - truly a night for star gazing!
