Final preparations, checking the morning clouds for altocumulus (thunderstorms in the afternoon) - no sign: so underway mid-afternoon - a few hours before high tide. Heavy chop to clear the causeway (onshore wind and flood tide) but soon we were into open sea - main on a single reef and full jib, engine off - peace and quiet. Magic Friday slipping along the coastline heading south - like going "downhill"! Perfect. A sighting of two turtles (one yellow head and the other dark brown) and a dolphin to set us on our way as the afternoon escaped into evening dusk and darkness fell. Winds stayed easterly at 10-12 knots giving us a good 6 knot boat speed into the night - lit by the waxing moon and shoreline cities....
