Day two was to be an electrical "continue-to-fix" issues day...and so it was. Well, not entirely fix the issues but progress - for those not wishing to know of the troubles - the next few paragraphs can be skipped - this is more for Moody/Hanse and all the service personnel who have looked at our issues over the past year or more,,,,:

1. The VHF not receiving - turns out to be a geographical issue (same as DVD’s geographically zoned!!)  A couple of conversations with Simrad (Navico) revealed that it has to be re-programmed to work in the United States - and then "re-re-programme" it back to European channels when we return with magic Friday! Amazing that equipment isn't made to operate globally (how do boats circumnavigate with such limitations). Oh and apparently there is a button function to switch to a secondary country mode - BUT the software was never written and so that function doesn't work - you guessed it - no alternative but to package it up and send to Navico in San Diego for someone to re-programme - cost $150 plus postage! I am not fully convinced but will “send-it-and-see”. To be continued…..

2. Then to the windlass - a very helpful exchange of e-mails with a Lewmar representative - the mechanical parts have a 5 year warranty BUT the motor only a 1 year warranty - so no need to strip off the boat and send to a service dealer (not that I could access one of the three locking bolts anyway without cutting another hole in the forward cabin shell). The only alternative is to buy a new motor and disassemble the gears myself to replace....to be continued sometime later.

3. Next to the battery/tank monitor which had decided to slowly die on us during the journey home...not a lot of joy from the Phillippi manual supplied (in German - the English translation is actually for a different monitor). The LCD display comes back to live if unplugged and re-connected - but only briefly ... we watch it die again and again. Oh, interestingly, during one of the re-connections the display changed and revealed its ability to monitor battery amp-hours - so the shunt that was fitted way back in Portsmouth (and the electrician who had apparently talked to Phillippi and reported to me that the monitor was not capable of measuring amp-hours was wrong - Jeff you were right the connections are there ... what a pity that the display now no longer works. Nothing more to do on this but to look to see if it can be replaced on the switch console - not easy as the monitor looks to be integrated in the console...hmm – to be solved later.

4. The starboard compass light - at last a time to replace with parts purchased a long time ago - job well done ….and off the list of to-dos!!

Running out of day time - we packed up, celebrated the end of this adventure with bubbly (of course) and then took ourselves out to Chuck's Seafood restaurant on Seaway Drive (a cab drivers recommendation from when we were here before) - great place - overlooking the water inlet, pelicans silhouetted in the sunset, food and wine to enjoy for a very pleasant evening.
