All is well on board and we're nearly there.
As per forecast the evening found us becalmed on a glassy sea, so we motorsailed until the early hours of the morning, when the wind started to fill in, and we were once again sailing with peace restored.
This morning we're enjoying some of the best sailing since entering the Pacific: a complete absence of any contradictory swell, glorious sunshine and a delightful beam reach. This is as good as it gets.
We're hoping to clear in at Apia, Samoa before close of business Friday, as we cannot check in at the weekend. Under normal circumstances this wouldn't put us under any pressure, today being Wednesday. However we're approaching the International Date Line and we lose a day in the blink of an eye, so we're trying to sail as efficiently as possible, in order to avoid having to spend the weekend at anchor, under the Q Flag, confined to the boat. We'll let you know how we get on.
