We enjoyed our time on St Barts very much indeed.  We stayed in the wonderful Anse du Colombier on the northwest tip of the island, where mooring balls have been put in place to preserve the feeding ground of the sea turtles which we saw in abundance. A daily swim with these gorgeous creatures was a real treat.  We ‘dinghied’ in to the capital, Gustavia, a very interesting town with its Swedish heritage still very much in evidence.

St Barts is known as the playground of the rich and famous, yet the following photos show that it’s not all Louis Vuitton and Prada.

By chance, we happened to be there to see the arrival of the first few boats in the double-handed Transatlantic race AG2R La Mondiale (Concarneau – St Barthélemy) and were amazed how small those vessels are. We have the upmost respect for these competitors.
