Cold day, but at least the rain has stopped.

Nicholas had picked up a puncture on his bicycle in Foscoe Creek on our way into the town of Demopolis. So here in Pickensville we took my bike ashore and I cycled to the nearest Gas Station and bought a tube repair kit as we had none aboard Meshugga. An easy cycle of about a 1 mile. We left the repair to dry and dinghied to the Tom Brevill Centre located next to the Lock, and which is housed in an Antebellum Mansion and which had a 1926 Paddle Wheel Snag Boat alongside to tour.

What a beautiful house.

The snag boat was incredibly interesting too. It was used to clear the Tombigbee and Tenn-Tom canal of snags, eg. trees etc floating in or stuck in the waterway.

Back at Meshugga and Nicholas’ puncture repaired, we went ashore with both bikes and cycled into Pickensville to do more sightseeing and find a local restaurant. The ‘town’ consisted of one crossroad with the Gas Station, a couple of stores and quaint church.

Chatting to some locals we found out that there was no Pub or Restauarant, that we were in a ‘Dry’ State, and the cross road we were at - was ‘IT’.

Back to Meshugga - at least we have good Sirlion steaks aboard, good wine, a whiskey for me and movies on our hard drive to spend a cold night indoors.
