Fog, wet...
We are moving at ~4.3 knots... On a strait line
from the boat to Falmouth...
All is fine! The sun will look from the sky
shortly... the fog will lift... the wind will diassapear...
I'm typing all above wordy phrases with just one
reason -- to delay confession / admission that we are doing a terribly
slow progress... No, I'm doing a terribly slow progress since the
boat is doing her best in conditions given...
And on top, instead of using some breeze
during the night... I've preferred to sleep... With nice dreams, I should
admit... But I've slept instead of helping my boat...
We did 3110.2 nm as I'm typing... Another
computer says -- we have 748 nm to go... In a good wind...
No, I'm not allowed to think that way... especially
today, after taking all that sleep...
The biggest challenge ahead -- the forecast
from no wind at all to strong NNE, exactly from the point
where we have to go... Yesterday, I asked Chris to stop when he started, ' On
Monday... NNE... on Tuesday... NNE... on Wednesday... NNE... On Thursday...
NNE... Are you sure you would not lke to go to South Ireland or France
? ... We are going to have wind... Just what to do about it... '
And the only good part about above session -- I've
noticed thay my system analysis habit is back in action... Talking with
Chris, somewher in the corner of my mind, the record has been done... '
Weather people are blaming everything on the ridges, troughs,
compurter model mistakes... They are so good in explanaiton why you DID NOT
get what you were expecting... To the same degree, as sailing people, like
me, are blaming everything on wind, currents, wrong conditions...
Why did not I just admit -- I do not know ( yet ? ) how to sail in those
conditions?! Period! Luck Perron or Mike Golding would probably fly
both yesterday or today... Or possition the boat properly a few days before and
move today with no those '..ah, where is my wind? What weather man is going to
tell me? ...' May be it is just time to go back to basics -- books
& studies, and more practicing? I'm in a good spot for
that --- in the Atlantic, about 750 nm SW from UK and ~500 nm
from Northern Spain... Can I be at better place for training
?! Instead of blaming everything on computer model(s),
its mistakes or the luck of those... '
Ok. Coffee time. Sending the message to blog, and
coffee...
And then -- back to sailing the boat. I DO
NEED PROGRESS!!!
Talk soon,
M.
