Savannah was the home of Forest Gump and perhaps the only place in the world where John will be refused a drink for not having ID.  The town was laid out by some 18th century colonist with a multitude of squares in a grid system throughout the town, each of these is a lovely oasis of shade with beautiful old trees, statues and promenades.  It was really pleasant to wander from area to area exploring the old buildings and quaint shops along the way.

Whilst in Savnnah we were an chored about 5 miles out of town and having a fast tender made all the difference.  At our anchorage we met a lovely scaottish couple whose home town was Cambell town.  We set off together to head what was supposed to be 20 miles north to Skull Creek, after bucking the tide in the Savannah river and having to head along way out of our way to bypass shoal ground at the river entrance and then beating into the wind, we arrived some six and a half hours later to a lovely little anchorage in a small side channel of the ICW.
