Title: " Not too much coke in that rum please ! "

0:12 17:16.266N 45:30.738W

Plenty of ice in that rum and coke please - huh what ? -  time to wake up Kevin its your watch..... but I was having a wonderfull dream !!

Kevin the crew here reporting again on day 16 - did I mention ( and those that know me will find this surprising ) that this is a dry boat ? - no alcohol at all has passed these lips for over two weeks !, well, there are three small bottles of beer somewhere around and I have a bottle of honeyed rum stashed - but thats just for emergencies. !

So, what news for you our avid readers ? well, we're about 900 miles from St Lucia now, the weathers been very kind the last couple of days - good Easterly trade winds of 20 knots - thats 22 miles per hour, and we're running downwind again under twin headsails - rolling from side to side to side to side.......... The boat speed varies from five and a half to seven knots so all in all things are going pretty well just now.

Myself and Chris have both been eyeing our stocks of cigarettes anxiously every time the wind dies off and the boat slows but I'm sure it will be fine - we won't run out will we - please tell me we won't !!!     The fishing lines been out all day but no takers yet - don't they realise just how tasty that plastic squid can be ? looks like tinned ham or a fray bentos meat pie again.

Its gotten hotter and hotter each day and the sun tans progressing nicely - its actually so hot now that we need to rig some kind of shelter to stay out of the sun - see the problems we're having out here :-)

Still no whales sighted and only two or three pods of dolphins to date, hardly any birds - just one or two a day that look like sheerwaters - smallish black and white birds that glide effortlessley a few inches from the waves and no matter how often or for how long you watch them, they never seem to catch anything !

Last night we kept the radar on all night due to there being two abandoned yachts in the area - one from a few days back and one that lost its steering yesterday. Its a strange thing - if your car breaks down you wouldn't leave it in the middle of the road for another car to hit would you ? yet out here the insurance companies tell you if you abandon your boat then don't scuttle or sink it - just leave it drifting and maybe it will wash up somewhere and be salvageable !! or maybe another boat will hit it and they have another claim on their hands !! strange.

Well, thats all the news for now folks - wonder if I can get back into that dream about the rum and cokes again..........
