Sorry forgot to add position.
Day 15 and
Skipper here.
Short one today
as the computer keeps shutting down. But then the hole day has been a bit like
that. This morning the bilges were full of water again, so that means, we've got
a leak. But where? On a boat that's never a good thing! but when your 1000
miles from land I can think of better things to have problems with. So the
morning was spent taking emergency measures of empting the water tanks into
every container we could find. I then ordered all crew to have a good wash, as
it looks like we will not be washing in fresh water till we get to St Lucia.
Just checked the bilges and there already filling up with water again. Oh what
is it that they say? 'Worse thing happen at sea'. Today should have been a great
occasion to make up speed as the wind and weather have been great. But, due to
our leak time has been spent else where. We've also just had to throw our last
free range eggs as they've turned. We still have a bit of fresh veg left, but
we'll be on to canned food very soon.
As I said we are
nearly 1000 miles from St Lucia so providing the boat keeps it's self together
we should be on dry land in 7 and half days. My friends and family will tell you
that I'm not much of a drinker, but the first stop when we get a shore is a Bar.
Bugger the showers, the cleaning the boat down, the checking in at customs. The
first stop is a bar.
Oh one bit of
good news the cockroaches on board have just had babies.
And lastly before
I forget one of our regular readers has asked us about the other yachts crossing
the Atlantic at present. Well the list goes something like this. But first to
all Mum's watching our progress we are all OK, and taking all precautions. We
are holding back because we forecasted the bad weather ahead some days ago. And
we might be one of the last but we will get there in one piece.
