Title: day 8: feeding the sharks

Day 8 in the little blue household, and Barbara is in the blog room.  I can't believe we've been at sea a whole week!  Doesn't time fly when you're having fun.  And my, what a fun day we had yesterday.  Kevin was on cooking duty and decided to check through our defunct and rapidly warming fridge to see what needed eating.  When we did our provisioning we went to one of the supermarkets in town and got them to vacuum pack a load of meat for us because it is supposed to keep longer.  Well let me tell you, it doesn't keep any time at all if it is not cold. So Kevin bit the bullet and 2 half chickens, 8 steaks, 1.5lb of mince and about 2lb of something else beefy all had to be thrown over the side.  Yuck!!! I didn't see any but there must have been sharks following us all day - perhaps we'll leave swimming with the dolphins till next week...  Then, just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, 3 lots of omelette mix fell victim to the rolling of the boat and flew across the newly cleaned fridge.  Yep, I think we've hit the trade winds!

Weather is warm but cloudy and dull and rainy.  wind picked up to a toupee lifting 28 knots last night, and even under a handkerchief of sail, Little Blue achieved a personal best of 13.5 knots of speed!
Squalls: just the one but a few near misses
Dolphin sightings: 3 pods!
Other boats: one faintly sighted off our port bow, but Chris thinks he might have dreamt it
Other exotics: a whole classroom of flying fish flew past us, they are just delightful.

Only another 1984 miles to go!
