Sheet Lightening, crashing thunder, breaching
whales, somersaulting dolphins and flying fish landing in the frying pan -
3 days in and we haven't seen any one of those yet !! Kevin the crew here
reporting from 340 miles south west of Gran Canaria, 250 miles west off the
coast of Morocco. I've finally recovered from a nasty bug
courtesy of a british airways journey - not the best condition to be in
setting off across the atlantic !
Little blue's in great shape - more toys on her
than you can shake a stick at, even enough surplus power to run the fridge and
for captain Chris to watch harry potter dvd's each day ! ( myself and first mate
Barbara prefer the first series of northern exposure )
Our twin headsail downwind rig seems to be paying
dividends - a relatively comfortable downwind ride ( the rolling, the rolling
I'ts driving me crazy !!! ) and the latest daily ARC email ( via the
satellite phone ) seems to suggest we are middl'ish front of the pack - not
that we're racing you understand, and also not bad for the third
smallest yacht out of 240.
Our one and only squall so far, hit us just
after we left Gran Canaria and its
also warmed a little each day - as you would expect heading south. Hopefully the
following trade winds will turn us more westwards today or tommorow and maybe
speed us up a little - hmmmm 5 miles per hour crossing the atlantic, where's my
calculator ? - on second thoughts maybe we don't really want to know
!
So...... we sit in the cockpit gazing at the vast
sky - or the stars, bouncing from side to side with the occasional rogue wave
bullying rudely against the side of the boat and splashing up over the side.
Time not really having any significance anymore, lost in our
dreams........
Love to friends and family and of course a
special girlfriend in Falmouth.
