Hello Lisanski friends,
We are now more than half way between Fiji and New Zeeland. The trip
started with strong winds around 20-25 knots and we made a good distance of 195
NM the first day. The sea was a bit rough and it was uncomfortable to move
around on board. After the first 1 1/2 days the wind dropped and we had a very
comfortable sail for a while until the wind died completely. We have now motored
for two full days in very weak or no winds at all. We have tried to sail now and
then but the wind has been too weak and veered to the south so we have it
against us at the moment. We expect better winds later during the day.
Life on board is very comfortable. We are fishing, so far without luck,
cooking good food, playing cards, reading books etc. We have made a few stops
for swimming as well.
The weather is very nice and sunny but it is slowly getting colder. Long
trousers at night and duvets in the beds. Something we have not had in a long
time.
We are aiming at making landfall at Opua on the North Island and are
expecting to get there in about 3-3 1/2 days as we still have 475 Nm to
go.
Best regards from the Lisanski crew, Eric, Arthur, Anja, Peter and
Marta. |
