Bonaire Friday February 9, 2017

We spent our third week on Grenada, this lovely island. We were anchored in Prickly Bay and enjoyed their facilities with a good restaurant with good wi-fi and entertainment in the evening. We managed to get last in the Trivia-quiz where there were questions about Superbowl etc. Ann refused to take part in the Bingo-night ! We also made some tours to the capital St Georges and to one of the many waterfalls in the rain-forest.

Gunilla and Lasse left us and our new crew arrived. Micheal from Ireland came on board first. He will join Lisanne for a long period now. Lisa and Jennie came direct from Sweden. They looked a bit pale, especially compared with Ann !

We left Prickly Bay and sailed to Moliniere just north of St Georges to snorkel on the famous statues on the bottom of the sea. The girls needed a day to get their sea-legs before we set off for Bonaire about 400 Nm to the west.

On Sunday morning we pulled up the anchor and set course on Bonaire. We had a steady NE from the beginning and had quite a comfortable reach the first day. But then the wind went due east and we sailed dead downwind which made the last night very rolly and uncomfortable. We set our twin headsails which pulled us forward with 7-8 knots. We caught a nice tuna on the way, delicious ! We got into Harbour Village marina on Tuesday morning.

We were immediately  invited to a barbecue on one of our Oyster-friends´ boat, Miss Tiggy. 21 people having hamburgers and drinks on an Oyster 575 is not bad. Quite a party !

Bonaire is a divers paradise and yesterday Lisa, Eric and Micheal went for two great dives on the reefs surrounding the island. Just like being in an aquarium with 27 C in the water and beautiful fishes and turtles everywhere.

We plan to stay here until Sunday 12th when we sail over to Curacao which is just a short trip from here.
