Title: Glorious sailing off Casablanca

After a busy night with shipping everywhere we have had a day of sunshine and wonderful sailing with hardly any vessels in sight and the crew is gradually settling into the routine of life at sea. We set the two headsails on the poles (our Atlantic downwind rig) for the first time and Kingfisher cantered away on a dead run very comfortably. As night is approaching we have had to alter course to move away from the African coastline have returned to a full main and jib for the night to give us maximum flexibility in case we hit traffic coming out of Casablanca in the dark. We are currently heading SW into the sunset on a broad reach doing 8.5 knots over the ground, listening to Mandolin concertos (the boys say it reminds them of the music from Master and Commander!) and about to tuck in to a delicious dinner cooked by Alex. Should be a comfortable night (touch wood, as Milly would say) and another step on the way…..I, for one, am looking forward to a good night's sleep.
