After the formal welcome bit with the people from the island the fleet got down to the serious business of the day.  A Halloween visit to each yacht by the “kids” for trick or treat.  Followed in the evening by the Rugby World Cup final between New Zealand and Australia.  Given the numbers from both of those countries on the rally it was bound to be a noisey evening.  The restaurant owner BJ was acting as Raymond’s agent and looking after the fleet.  Raymond had telephoned him from Belitung at our request to see if it was possible to arrange to watch the match.  BJ got it just right and made it a perfect and special night, providing a cloth screen over the water outside his small restaurant with the television coverage projected on to it so we could all see.  For the 11 o’clock kick off he laid on chicken satay and cold Bintang with the restaurant staying open until we left at 0130 in the morning!  A good game (NZ 34 – Aus 17) and another excellent fleet event.

BJ, is a Singapore trained chef and an excellent English speaker who has a restaurant at the next stop on Benan Island, so things are looking up!
