On our first day in Lovina we were taken to the traditional Bull racing being run as part of the Lovina Festival.  Racing the bulls usually used for ploughing is taken very seriously and the animals are in magnificent condition and beautifully prepared.  The heats consisted of three teams racing against each other over two lengths of the field (the equivalent of ploughing two furrows).  There were several heats, semi-finals and a eventually a final.  Great fun to watch especially as it was a competition for and about the local villages and not just something for arranged on for us or the tourists.  Team number three were the overall winners, by the way.
