This has been the most persistent rain we have had.  Slate grey skies and endless rain.  Decks washed very nicely and salt rinsed off boat but after a couple of days we were looking for the sun.

We spent our first night at anchor next to the Hilton hotel which was mostly hidden (thankfully) other than half a dozen or so huts along the waters edge.  A pretty bay but our main reason for going was that several of our friends were there and it was a chance to catch up.

We moved to one of the few mooring buoys at the Bora Bora Yacht Club which is a bar and restaurant with mooring balls rather than any kind of yacht club as we would think of it.  Dancing Bear had got there well ahead of us and had the last buoy but someone soon left so they tied their dingy to it to reserve it for us.

The yacht club was delightful and a little eccentric in what they offered.  They may or may not charge you for the buoy, the wifi was only turned on when the bar was open and if you went just for a drink you were only allowed to sit at certain tables even if the others were free or only booked for two hours later.

We cught up with Tom and Susie on Adina who Carol had not seen since we first got to the Marquesas and Mike had spent time with in Tahiti.  They had been there for several weeks waiting for a weather window and shot off a couple of days later heading for Palmerston before they went completely stir crazy.

We needed some provisions and fuel and to spend some time preparing meals for the passage to Tonga so we left 24 hours behind them.  Bora Bora was more of an admin stop that we needed to make before the passage and we wanted to get on with that so didn’t spend any time exploring.
