We had not managed to get the correct (and very accurately shaped) anode for the rope cutter on the propeller before the boat went back in the water in Trinidad.

Therefore, rather than a two minute job on land it became an underwater necessity that we decided we would tackle once we had done our course and were anchored in calm waters.

This was that moment.  It is not a difficult job but the stakes are considerably higher given the consequences of dropping either the anode, the allen key or the teeny tiny screw.  Carol decided that little fingers were best on this, but the necessary bits and pieces into the pocket on her BCD (buoyancy control device, AKA jacket)  and delegated photography to Mike.

All done, nothing got dropped and we were pretty chuffed with ourselves.  We are really looking forward to diving in the Pacific but for the time being at least will only go with a ‘proper’ dive resort rather than on our own however it is very good to know that we can do the minor underwater repairs without having to find a diver.

We were exceptionally lucky that our friends Diane and Michael (who we met in Oriental, North Carolina when we rather cheekily asked if we could moor Tashi Delek on their jetty) gave us their diving kit.  We have needed to buy very little and so we had the impetus to just get on and do the course.

Now we have all this kit it takes a bit or work to stow it…
