Thursday/ Friday 17th May

We continued to motor all day yesterday.  The chat on the SSB net was all about the weather as everyone has very light winds.  With the approaching bad weather due about Wednesday next week everyone seems to be keeping fairly south.  The usual advice is to go north to about 38-40 degrees north to get the good winds, but with an anticipated storm probably not a good tactic.  But if you stay too far south you run into the doldrums and a lot of boats, including us, do not have enough fuel to keep running into low wind sections

Overnight we have had torrential rain, and a little wind so could sail for about an hour, and then about 06.00 this morning the wind kicked in and we now have about 17 knots from the north west and are bowling along at 6 knots in brilliant sunshine.  Long may it last....
