Half Way There!

Last night was quite a fast sail even though we only had 10-12 knots of wind.  It seemed as though we should have more wind as the sea was rougher than we  had anticipated. Perhaps we had some current against us.

By 9 o’clock this morning we had covered 800 miles so we are about half way, We celebrated with a freshly baked scone with our morning coffee, and then later on opened a bottle of fizz.

Since lunch time the wind has been very light, so we motored for a short while and then decided to just turn off the engine and  drift.  We did this for about 2 hours and then a light breeze started from the north east. This wind should be increasing overnight and we should be able to sail for the next three days.

We have been conserving fuel as we know that when we get into the Caribbean we are going to have to motor for a couple of days so we don;t want to use it all now....

Highlight of the day - a heron flew over, circled the boat and carried on his journey.  Hope he’s not lost!
