The C&D canal is 16 miles long. It is wide enough to take large cargo boats and tankers but we didn’t come across any on our way through. On the northern shore is a tow path for walkers and cyclists. There are lots of sea birds especially osprey and turkey vultures (buzzards). There are a few marinas and restaurant, but we just went straight through. Every boat has to motor through and no sailing is allowed.
