Saturday/Sunday 2nd and 3rd September.

We have come in here to wait for 2 additions to the crew – Frank Neate and Dick Sutton.  They are going to help us sail the boat back to the Chesapeake bay weather permitting. While here we are here we will sort the boat out; i.e. tried and find alternative homes for things that normally live in the back cabins, stock up with food and generally get ready for visitors.

Monday 4th September

Our guests are here. They flew into New York and then got a taxi to Port Washington, which is only about 20 miles from JFK.

Tuesday/ Wednesday 5th &6th September

Did a shake down sail to Oyster Bay to get them used to the boat. Very light winds so we decided to use the cruising shute.  Dick was the main man in putting it up, but we had a good sail to Oyster bay.  Picked up a mooring ball as all the anchoring space seems to be taken up with the moorings. Chris, Dick and Frank went ashore while Penny got dinner (and had an hour or so to herself!).
Next day (Wednesday) sailed back to Port Washington for the night and will then go to New York via the East River and then carry on down to Cape May while the wind is sufficient and in the right direction.
