Tuesday 13th May

We left the mooring buoy in Jolly Harbour at 06.30 intending to get to Des Hais at the top of Guadeloupe by mid afternoon.  We had a fast sail across from Antigua to Guadeloupe and arrived outside Des Hais at 13.00 so decided to carry on down to The Saints – the small group of islands just south of Guadeloupe.  We made it just before sunset so had enough light to be able to pick up a buoy.

Before we had left Jolly Harbour we were delighted to find that Ian’s persistence with his dinghy engine lock had worked and he was able to undo it and take his engine off.  When we left he had and put it on the back of his boat with the lock back in place so hope he can get it off for storing the engine during the summer hurricane season.

The night before leaving we had a meal with Ian and Gerry at the Fish and Chip Bus.  It’s about a 10 minute walk from the marina, and is a small restaurant with an ex London (?) red bus for those who want to eat inside or if it rains.  We had fish and chips and a few drinks, wished Ian and Gerry farewell as they are returning to the UK at the end of the week.
