Tuesday 30th April – Thursday 2nd May

We left the mooring in Portsmouth and sailed the 20 miles down the coast to Roseau, the capital of Dominica. We tied up to a buoy, and were persuaded to take a trip to the rainforest and the waterfalls with “Spray” the following day. We were a bit disappointed with Roseau as the description in the pilot book made it sound better than we thought it was. We took a dingy ashore and visited the Anchorage hotel and had a beer and then decided to eat on board.
The next day we had our trip with Bobby Brown as our guide. The scenery is spectacular and the walks to the waterfalls enjoyable.
On the way back to Roseau, we stopped at a small holding where the lady farmer sold us papaya, coconut water (supposed to be very good for you). The farm grew coconuts, watercress, mangoes, papaya etc.

When we got back to Roseau after a trip to the supermarket to restock, we booked a table in the Fort Young Hotel then realised the dock outside the hotel was not suitable for a dinghy so cancelled it and ate on board.
The following day we left for Martinique.
