We stayed about 9 days here on Molokai and enjoyed the safe anchorage.

First night with s/v Libby anchored next to Kahia, local sailing boat playing in the evening breeze

It is a pleasure to arrive in a harbour with just local activity, away from the high tourist crowds we experienced in Lahaina and Kona.

Suzy and Neil on s/v Distant Drummer stayed here and organised a ride with Lorraine and Robby to the yearly Rodeo of Molokai.

Inter island deliveries are made by tugs towing big barges filled with containers and goods. One day we met the captain and crew and were invited to have a tour of the tug. Passing Distant Drummer on the way, we invited them to join us...what fun and how informative.

The next day Distant Drummer moved on and we had the bay to ourselves. Robby and Lorraine took us to the Kalaupapa lookout and a wonderful picnic and walk in the woods to the phallic rock.
It was here on the Kalaupapa peninsular that Father Damien and Mother Marianne Cope lived and established the Leper Colony. There is a movie called ‘'Molokai” giving an insight and some history of the life and times here.
