We arrived here on Sunday 1st November and did not expect such a swell. S/V Flashgirl was the only yacht in the bay. We had a brief evening drink with Warwick and Nancy, pretty sure we will see each other again soon. When they sailed on to Fatu Hiva the next day, we had the bay to ourselves. Unfortunately the waves were crushing on the beautiful white beach, making any landfall dangerous. Anyway, we came here to clean the hull and Paul did a brilliant job with the little air left in the tank.
As we can feel the tropical heat building, we are getting tired of it. Anything we do when the sun is so hot between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., the sweat is just pouring out of our pores and we are glad we can cool off in the water between jobs, but it doesn’t last long for the heat to take over again. The fan is running at full power down below! So amazingly for us to say, we are now looking forward to the cooler climate of the Northern Hemisphere.
Every evening we welcome the sunset, not only for the lovely colours in the sky but for the coolness it brings.
We are about to weigh anchor for a 65 miles night sail Northwards to the Island of Ua Pou, just as two vessels have arrived here this afternoon.
