45 miles to the Bay of Virgins, Fatu Hiva.
Always an exciting view to see land on the horizon, especially when approaching a mountainous island like this one, so remote, beautiful and unspoiled.
Having been here 3 1/2 years before, we are looking forward to all the things we want to do. Especially meeting up with some lovely people we had met, going for long walks in the tropical forest and enjoying the abundance of fruit and vegetables we remember.

Last night, just as the sun had set, we caught a 12 kilo Mahi-mahi, queen of the sea. Although very grateful to the meat, it is always a sad moment to take the life of such a stunning fish. After an hour and 1/2 of cleaning up the blood, gutting the fish and cutting up fillets, Paul resumed his place in the bunk “off watch” quickly falling into a deep sleep, while I cooked a feast, bagged-up some enormous fillets and stored them in the fridge.
Perfect timing to bring some fish to the woodcarvers, Hito and his family, who were very kind and generous on our first visit.
