Having watched the couple in the picture below haul in their catch (not much for a lot of work, which put a new light on the price of fish), and seen the normal morning promenade along the beach (the next beach over had nudists - some running along the shoreline - running in the nude should not be done in public by either sex!) we upped anchor to move to Cangas.  We were shortly in thick fog and motored most of the 4 miles in almost no visibility - thank heaven for radar and AIS which take the anxiety out of poor visibility.

Cangas marina are very welcoming, and have some English between them.  On Wednesday we caught the ferry to Vigo and had a wander round in the rain.  It is a lovely city (see pictures below) and we didn’t do it justice because of the weather.  There were street vendors on every corner selling umbrellas and it appeared the locals did not have much practice with brollies, so you had to watch out if you didn’t want to loose an eye.  We found an excellent vegetarian restaurant - the first so far in this part of Spain, so had a lovely lunch.

On our return to ‘Serenity’ we started getting ready to leave for Portugal, but rigging checks identified a broken strand on the babystay (which supports the front of the mast about half way up).  This was through Sarah doing the rigging checks she was shown on her yacht maintenance course in July, so it was worthwhile!

We are now waiting for a part to arrive at the local chandlers so that he can do a temporary repair for us, then the riggers in Plymouth will be sending a complete new stay to meet us somewhere down the Portuguese coast.  In the meantime Phil has fixed another leaky window and Sarah has started varnishing the bits of wood she sanded earlier.  We hope to find a good walk at some point over the weekend and to be on our way again as soon as possible next week.
