Trellis Bay is like camping for yachties. It has a large mooring field and not much room to anchor. Particularly as you are restricted from anchoring too close to the runway; how inconvenient…. :) we like it here though. The first two times we came for pick-up-and-drop-off (NPR Car Talk’s Russian chauffeur, he he), we took the same red mooring buoy near the runway; a money buoy. No one came to collect the money though, we happily noticed. Note: if you ever want to make a million doing nothing, lay a mooring field and scoop money out of water.

Being a a big fan of Pavlov’s dog, this time we took the same red buoy. Then just before Quest’s Sunday dinner was ready; roasties, cabbage, gravy, pork; frankly it’s the best meal of the week since I don’t have to cook it, the man came to collect the money. He must have smell-timed it. We dug into our pockets and paid the 30 greenbacks. The next day before any kind of meal, we were on it. We anchored by Sea of Love and Navigator from London, boats that don’t look like they’ve moved in a while. A lot of boats in Trellis look like they haven’t moved in a while.

Still, there’s no resort here to make things posh and exclusive. They'll strip the fun out of almost any place. I’m looking at you, Peter Island Resort with your weird anti-canine laws walking down the back road. Trellis Bay is no Peter Island Resort. There’s an art colony half-way down the beach. You enter a tropical Glastonbury festival; sculptures and fire-pits, work hanging by trees, on trees, under trees in the sand. It’s a lived-in, worked-in, welcoming space. Pass through to the other side, DeLoose Mongoose Bar has a trampoline and water slide. Yippee! Kick back for an hour, do some jumping, sliding, crack your shins, smash your elbows, limp back to Quest for in time for the rainbow. Who needs any pots of gold with all these mooring buoys around? Thank you, Trellis.

Love from Quest and her crew xx
