Between the sea grass and beach there are a number of ledges in Sandy Island and hiding under them are crayfish, morays and this little guy. Green eyes. ‘Did you make her puff up?’ Jack asked. ‘I didn’t have the heart.' Meanwhile, in deeper water just underneath Quest were two long, undulating fish I’d never seen before. Jack, a.k.a. bellow lungs, dove down to one and it disappeared in a cloud of sand. ‘Where’d it go?’ I asked when he surfaced. Minutes later we saw the fish again, hovering by the same patch of sand. I found the fish ID book and discovered it’s a sand tilefish; It will quickly disappear into a burrow if disturbed. What a burrow; the rest of the afternoon was spent trying to get the tilefish's photo and below was the poor final attempt. Coming up back to Quest, the little comb jellies glowed their hellos.
