 Poros – Navy Bay

Sunday 21st June, 2015.

Father’s Day!  Thank you for remembering kids, Dad was chuffed.

A beautiful morning so Jim decided with the weather due to change on Tuesday we would make the crossing of 55.98 miles to Poros.  Ariel is due to be lifted next week, Clive and Tricia are due to arrive in Poros and Brian and Miri are on their way from Athens so we didn’t want the weather to stop us seeing our friends.

The journey was very mixed.  As we motored out of the harbour the wind seem to be just right for our journey but as soon as we had rounded the last headland and left the island the wind disappeared.  We then motored for the next thirty miles before it kicked in again and we were doing 7.9 knots and making good speed.  We managed to sail about 18 miles with a super breeze.

We anchored in Navy Bay by 7 o’clock.  My tuna Bake was in the oven cooking and we were sat having dinner and a glass of wine as the Greek flag was lowered at 8 p.m.  I did find a creature lurking behind one of the curtains who must have flown in and come along for the ride.

Monday 22nd June, 2015.

We were woken by the noise of rain and we jumped out of bed to shut the hatches and Jim put up the hood although a little late to save the cushions getting wet. The heavens opened and we had an enormous storm where the mountains disappeared but it gave Ariel a marvellous wash!
