Saturday 17th May, 2014.

As we had breakfast we watched the little fishing boats trundle up the big bay.  Very quiet in our bay with just the birds singing.

We motored down to the head of the bay to see what was there.  Two or three groups of holiday villas/flats and two small restaurants at the head. We had not missed much so we turned put up the sails and off went the engine as we roared up the bay doing 9.2 at times.  We flew past the numerous fish farms across to the Bodrum Peninsula and into the bay of Torba. Ariel performed wonderfully but half way across we needed to reef the main and roll half the genny as the black clouds built and the wind started to hit us hard.

Just before we got to Torba bay Jim spotted a large green loggerhead turtle swimming along through the water.  We were going to quick for a photograph and there was no turning back at the pace we were going.

Torba is very quaint with just a couple of quality hotels.  We are lucky to be here in May.  We can imagine in the summer there wouldn’t be space to sit on the beach or anchor Ariel.
