Thursday 3 June 2010.   Set out to explore the fjords north of Stavanger, heading for “Sand”, an old town with a salmon fishing river, about 30 miles away. Had three hours lovely sailing under jib alone, up to 7.9 knots, in 10 to 12 knots of wind.  Had to motor as we headed up into the narrow fjord, snow covered mountains ahead. Found a nice mooring in Sand and had a rather chilly bbq ashore.

Friday 4 June.  7am start in bright sunshine for a trip to Skudneshavn, a picturesque fishing harbour on one of the outer islands near Stavanger.  A bit of a disappointment. Though very pretty at first sight, it was rather too perfect and set up for mass tourism.  Lunch in the cockpit and then headed for Stavanger, where we had to dodge the big cruise ship “Oriana”, who was just leaving her berth.  Met up with Randi and Ida, who are both doing the Bergen – Shatland race, and out for a lovely fish supper in “Sorensens”, thank you Steve and Mick.
