First week in Lanzarote

By Friday early evening all boats were
safely in and the celebrating really started! We joined Bali Blue for drinks and
were invited to join a party boat that was moored next to them and hosting a
50th birthday party. What a welcome to Lanzarote! Puerto Calero is a chic and
modern marina, lined with restaurants and designer shops. A very nice spot to
rest and prepare for the big crossing!
Saturday evening Mr Calero, the owner of
the marina, hosted a welcome party, which coincided with Halloween so the
children off Miss Tippy and Roundabout dressed up in costumes for the occasion.
They came to all the boats trick or treating and of course Paul had
to blast them with a water pistol out of the side handing over
treats.
 Tuesday evening we wnt to the north of the
island to Jameos del Agua, a volcanic cavern with an underground lake and
restaurant, where we were entertained by Canarian folk dancing and
music.
Thursday Jane flew in for a long weekend
to keep me company as Paul returned to the UK to tie up a few loose ends. A
friendly yacht race had been planned by the marina and we had been
invited to join Miss Tippy but due to high winds it was cancelled. The
curry night still went ahead that evening though.
There is a little rocky bay close to the
marina entrance where we swim off the rocks. The weather is gorgeous so we cool
off a few times a day there. We seem to have fitted a lot into our girly
weekend. A submarine trip, a ride on the water taxi to Puerto del Carmen where
we chilled on the beach. Jane felt very comfortable in our floating community,
or 'The Floating Village' as people have started to refer to us as.
