Thursday 1st April

Another pleasant day sailing today, although the weather hasn't been too great, it's very cloudy. Amy doesn't like the look of it, she say's it's threatening to rain!

Paul has somehow injured the ball of his foot and it has become infected so this morning he declared he needed nurse Sheila. He had to make do with nurse Derry though! He had it cleaned with an antiseptic wipe and then I put some antiseptic cream on it followed by a plaster - fixed!

Oh we've had an email from someone who has returned home and been to the doctors because of the constant diorrhoea he has experienced for two weeks. We have all been suffering with Amoebic Dysentry! Apparently 40% of people living in the tropics carry it so it's no wonder that so many people picked it up, especially after the very un-hygenic conditions we have been living in. At least we now know what has been spreading throughout the fleet. It was really causing a lot of confusion as we'd ruled out it being any food or drink, there was still a question mark over the ice but I think we had all just put it down to germs in the end. We have the medication needed to treat it anyway in our medical kit.

The seas have picked up and it is now quite rough. So although we've got 20-25 knots of wind we're struggling to get through the waves, they seem to stop us which of course is slowing us down. It was difficult sleeping during the night as it is like being in a washing machine down below. We even had a wave over the cockpit this morning, poor old Amy was soaked as well as all our books, pillows and the camera! Nevermind, they've soon dried out in this heat.

We're almost half way now, we've done about 1400 miles! It feels like we've still got a long way to go though
