Over 12 hours a day are passed in the dark. With a head torch I do some reading, listen to some music. Mainly though I shine a beam from the torch to the compass to see whether the wind has changed direction. I work on reciprocals even on the trade winds that I am in now I get some latitude. I am surprised to find that not many boats have the facility to read the compass from inside the boat too.
Cruise ship Berlin went by early in the morning. The weather to stay the same for the next 3 days at least, not worse. He was bound for Mindelo.
