tToday marks the 11th day aboard since we slipped lines from Mindelo - it has been a busy last couple of days for The Itchycoo Park professional racing sailing team and hence blogging has been the last things on our minds, apologies to the fans but we still love you..

Thursday at approximately 9 AM saw us fly past the 1034 NM mark on a broad reach at around 7 knots to make the half way marker, after a good half an hour of anticipation from the crew as to when it will happen , Roger emerged from below deck with a very chilled bottle of the long awaited champagne bottle and 5 flutes - after a video of, circa 30 selfies and the 1st sip of booze since our complimentary Gin after our spinnaker disaster it was back to business chasing down the miles to St Lucia and our nearest competitors, it definitely feels downhill now. I must also add that Roger used the last rum bottle to send a message in a bottle with our position & crew member names - shortly after flinging it in the drink he remembered there was no contact details - so if you do come across a bacardi bottle drifting in to the beach on your next holiday somewhere around the Carribean then please do let us know..

Today has been a day of repairs - Ross spent 12 hours stitching the torn spinnaker and sticking over smaller holes - a great job whilst flying along at speed with limited tools and materials available - I think it is safe to say Rogers sail repair kit was at the basic side of the market (dropping the superglue certainly didn’t help either.) We have also managed to fix our broken bilge pump so fingers crossed we should be able to stay afloat, which would be a great result.

Currently heading West at 7 knots with Frankenstein up (the affectionate name for the repaired spinnaker - photos to follow,) however it is Kevs watch next so we may well be heading slightly more north, I think he really wants to spend Christmas in NYC.

Provisions are proving to be strong - well the meat to bread ratio is pretty poor but we have 3 packs of meat a day at this rate if we arrive on Thursday which we are hoping for….

Its over and out for now, next blog coming soon…
