Day 2 dawns to a whole new world of joys and challenges for our intrepid crew.

The wind continues to frustrate us by being perfect for sailing but only in the wrong direction. We spent early evening sailing mostly in the wrong direction and then back again before resorting to George the auto pilot and the iron doctor (engine). Currently we are half way to the north west tip of France and about 8 hours behind the master navigators detailed plan - more on that later.

The domestic arrangements have proved entertaining. Our brave chef Paul produced a hot dinner but the process of preparing it ment he wasn't well enough to eat it - too much heaving: both in the boat motion and his stomach. We counted three spoonfuls of food entering the navigators belly and a few more than that both entering and leaving Kevin's - thereby meaning he won the award for the first chunder. Captain Roger lead from the front and as Bob physique demonstrates, he has never been known to turn down good food - or even average food for that matter.

On the sailing front, just one snag with the furler for the genoa meant an excursion to the bow for those able to and a misbehaving jib sheet for which the recovery process took a toll as Dave caught the pull cord on his life vest somewhere he shouldn't and set it off (to great amusement for some). Don't worry readers we have a spare.

Those who have sailed with us know about the great navigator debate. We have the old fashioned paper chart, almanac, plotter, channel guide answer to everything directional known as analogue Dave. As an alternative, we have modern do everything navionic elecronics known as digital Dave. Which should we rely on? Well, analogue Dave needs food, hot tea nad a packet of fags and is therefore high maintenance (in my view). Digital Dave needs just a battery and isn't prone to sleeping at key moments. You decide which you would prefer. Votes on a postcard please - I'll have to let you know where to address them.

More later - watch this space.

Its all too beautiful.
